Geo Tribal Fabric

I've got lots and lots of new fabric coming out! For this post I want to introduce the "Geo Tribal" fabric collection. It's a fun, modern, and trendy tribal collection featuring cubist zigzags and triangles. Seen below are "Geo Tribal-Mustard & Cream", "Geo Tribal-Light Gray & Cream", "Geo Tribal-Dark Gray & Cream, and "Geo Tribal-Turquoise Sky & Cream".  See my Spoonflower store to see the full collection as well as some of my other new design! xoxo -bgj

"Little Indians" Cut & Sew Characters

So, I finally dusted off my sewing machine and got to work sewing these adorable little cut and sew characters from my Little Indians fabric collection. I really had forgotten how much I like to sew and how gratifying it is to make something by hand. Much of the work that I do is entirely on the computer, so I don't often get the opportunity. I've been needing to get a picture of these characters for the Spoonflower website for several months now, but haven't had the time to get them done so I used some of my time off from work for the holidays to get this project done. I think I'll be sewing more in the future!!! I truly enjoyed it :)

Anyways, what I did was I let the edges stay rough and did a simple exposed stitch around the edges in a charcoal gray to make the dark gray (almost black) of the fabric. I even frayed the edges a little extra with my fingernails after the sewing was done to make them look even more nostalgic and whimsical. You are welcome to sew them any way you like though! Some of the areas are a little tricky to stuff, so be sure to stuff the smaller areas such as feet and feathers as you sew. I sewed a little, stuffed a little, sewed a little.... you get the picture. The simplist one to sew, of course, is the teepee. The top is the only tricky area for stuffing so be sure and get that little area done first!

Each character is available separately as a fat quarter. There are many coordinating fabrics available. Since these guys have been available for a few months, I've gotten to observe how people are purchasing from the collection and the most popular combo so far is the teepee cut and sew along with the teepee pattern fabric to make a coordinating baby blanket. I think it's an adorable idea for a nice gender neutral baby gift. I would love to see what else people are doing with this collection, so always feel free to send me an email with your photos :)
